Walk the wild side

BUSHWALKING and camping used to be pretty basic and rustic kind of thing - a few days without a hot shower, tinned food, lumpy swags.

But somewhere along the line someone decided that nature loving holidays didn't need to include a trip to the chiropractor as a condition - and 'glamping' was born.

The latest company to make room for a luxury leisure experience in the wild is the very comfortable Peppers, specifically Peppers Spicers Peak Lodge on the Scenic Rim, which has teamed up with eco experts Hidden Peaks Walks to launch its adventure package, Spicers Private Walk.

Fashioned in the tradition of the great New Zealand and Tasmanian walks, the fully-hosted three or four-day experience taverses the scenic trails fo one of south-east Queensland's largest private nature refuges, and ventures into the pristine environment of the Main Range National Park World Heritage areas.

Knock yourself out through the day exploring the stunning scenery and taking on the challenging walks, safe in the knowledge that your evening will be spent in comfort.

The experience culminates with luxurious overnight accommodation and the gastronomic pleasures of the multi award winning Peppers Spicers Peak Lodge.

Now that's my idea of camping.

The Classic Four-Day Spicers Private Walk leaves Mondays each week during season priced from $1800 per person, or the Classic Three-Day Spicers Private Walk leaves Saturdays each week during season priced from $1550 per person.
