Snake joins in the fun of pre-Muster party

VIDEO: 1.5m snake slithers into Gympie's pre-Muster party

CROWDS at Gympie's Pre Muster Party in Mary St yesterday got a little bit more country than they bargained for when a 1.5m carpet snake cut across the road - and the crowd - about 3pm.

Just metres from the stage in Smithfield St, the terrified snake was quickly rounded up by Gympie dad Josh Gilchrist.

He treated nervous onlookers to a lesson in being cool, calm and collected when confronted by local wildlife of the scaly variety.

Josh and his wife Jill relocated the confused reptile to Jill's parents' property at Langshaw.
