Valleys keen to roll victory onwards

SOCCER: Biloela Valleys FC - Seniors have kicked off the season with great expectations and are keen to keep their winning form rolling.

Last Sunday saw all three Valleys FC teams victorious with their home games, after winning all three games the weekend before.

The ladies started off the day well with a resounding 5-1 win over Gladstone United in warm conditions.

They started off strongly with two quick goals to Katie Muller, who then made it a hat-trick later in the game and Lyn Paap and Hannah Barnes each added a goal to the score.

The solid defensive effort of the Valleys ladies only conceded one goal.

The second division game was tighter, resulting in a 5-3 win over Meteors.

Again the Valleys team started well with goals to Leam Kurtz and Caleb Mowat.

Heat was an issue for both teams and both sides felt it during the second half.

But Valleys stayed focused on the game at hand and came away victors with a hat-trick to Wade Weeks.

First division had a dominating 6-1 win over Yaralla.

Straight from the first whistle of the game, Valleys put the pressure on Yaralla, who didn't look like recovering.

The intense attacking pressure paid dividends with goals going to Aiden Scoleri, Dean Martyn and Adam Lassig.

The pre-season hard work paid off with more goals going to Martyn, Max Sleep and Jarrett Weeks.

Valleys first and second division coach Paul Quarmby said it was looking to be a good season for Valleys seniors.

"I am pleased with the way the teams are playing and the results on the weekend show that we are on a positive pathway to be contenders for the first and second division titles this year,” Quarmby said.

"We're scoring more goals than ever and conceding fewer than ever, which is the combination we've been looking to achieve.”

Valleys FC have a home game this Sunday and the ladies will kick off at 11am against BITS Dolphins.

Divison two play at 1pm against Gladstone United and the first division game against Clinton is at 3pm.

Bar and canteen open from 11am.
