ELIMINATED My Kitchen Rules young guns Thalia and Bianca are backing Queenslanders Paul and Blair to win Tuesday's grand final.

The university students, from Hobart, got the chop last night after Greek twins Helena and Vikki beat their score in the ultimate instant restaurants round.

"Looking back on it, Thalia and I never expected to get to the Top 5; we never expected to even get into the show," Bianca told APN.

"We're completely stoked. We still have our heads held high."

Their elimination follows Monday's meltdown in which both girls were reduced to tears and Bianca dropped a plate of food when she fell down some stairs.

"I thought I would get really upset watching it, but it was more just cringe-worthy," Bianca laughed.

"My family found it hard to watch, especially my mum."

Gold Coast surfer dads Paul and Blair are currently the team to beat after earning the highest ultimate instant restaurant score.

Bianca reckons they will continue their winning streak.

"They haven't put a foot wrong this whole competition" she said.

"Being teachers they keep such a level head. Everyone really respects them and they've earned that respect."

Settling back into their university studies, Thalia and Bianca are now selling the patte which earned them a perfect score during their first instant restaurant at Hobart's Farm Gate Markets.

"It's going really well; we've sold out every week we've done it," Bianca said.

"It's just a starting point and I think it's a good way to highlight what we love, which is fresh Tassie produce. We do hope for bigger and better things and to extend our product range and get it into some delis here in Hobart."

And what about those rumours of a romance between Thalia and Bianca and Melbourne contestants Harry and Christo?

"We went to Melbourne last weekend and got to catch up with them then. They are our really good friends but that's it," Bianca said.

"They're just our mates. Nothing like that went on, as much as all the mags would love it too."

Sunday's first semi-final showdown will see top-ranked Paul and Blair cook-off against Perth "know it alls" Chloe and Kelly.

Speaking of the supposed MKR villains, Bianca says there's a soft side to Kelly and Chloe.

"We didn't really spend that much time with them until the rest of our friend were eliminated, so we judged them immediately," she said.

"Once we gave them the time of day we realised how lovely they were. They helped us during our ultimate instant restaurant round and really supported us."

The My Kitchen Rules grand final airs on Tuesday at 7.30pm.
