Students impress and qualify for Capricornia

STUDENTS will represent the entire region when they head to Cairns to compete in athletics.

Emily Authers, Olivia Mowat, Caleb Mowat, Shane Rideout and Gab Dos Santos are the five Biloela State High School students who will travel to Cairns in October to represent the Capricornia athletics team.

Biloela State High School HPE head of department Rob Singleton took 13 talented students to Mackay, representing the Port Curtis district at the Capricornia trials.

Singleton was not surprised to see students make the Capricornia team.

"The students who qualified were confident going into it because they've worked very hard and trained towards qualifying for Capricornia,” Singleton said.

"They are athletics kids in the sense they've come through the Little Athletics Club.”

Furthermore, the students who competed at the trials loved every minute of competing at a first-class facility.

"I think the biggest buzz was they achieved well and it was a brand-new facility they were using in Mackay,” Singleton said.

"We were able to perform in an industry standard complex.”

The dates are yet to be confirmed for when the students will travel to Cairns.
