Storm damaged cattle saleyards closed

FOLLOWING Thursday's severe storm, Coolabunia saleyards will be closed to the public until further notice.

The saleyards received damage as a result of the storm event on October 11.

Aussie Land and Livestock owner James Bredhauer said they are still planning on having a sale, and are working towards cleaning up after the storm to get it back into operation.

"We're trying to get it all done,” he said.

A tree had fallen on the canteen during the storm, causing water and electrical damage.

South Burnett Regional Council said the next closest clearance and holding facility would most likely be located at the Murgon Saleyards, however Mr Bredhauer said Aussie Land and Livestock plan to get the yards operational again as soon as possible.

The council will provide further details on their website regarding the reopening of the Coolabunia Saleyards when they are known.

For more information about the next Coolabunia sale expected to be on October 23, contact Aussie Land and Livestock on 4162 2233.
