Soccer players needed for senior women's team
SOCCER: The Biloela Valleys Football Club women's team have some spare jerseys is are looking for players to fill them this season.
Already working hard with pre-season training, the team has been going through its paces to prepare for the 2019 season.
However, more players are needed. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to have some fun and gain a bit of fitness along the way.
Team captain Melissa Kummerow said the team has a proud history of competitive success, making the semi-final last year and the grand final the year before.
"We are a strong side and need a few more players to help us out,” Kummerow said. "They don't have to have any playing experience, just come down and have some fun and do a bit of fitness training.
"We understand if they can't make it sometimes with work but there is an opportunity to play some football with a great bunch of ladies.”
Midfielder Laura Daniels was hitting the pitch hard at training and gearing up for a busy season.
"Yes I'm excited to be back playing football and having a run at training,” Daniels said. "I would absolutely recommend anyone wanting to have some fun and do a bit of fitness to come down and have a kick with the team.”
The team plays in the Gladstone League of the Women's Community Football.
First round will start possibly on March 9 and there will be home and away games.
Other teams Valleys will be up against are Gladstone, Calliope and Boyne Island/Tannum Sands.
Players train on Tuesday and Thursday nights (with the men's team) starting around 7pm.
