A CARPET python went back for seconds when it bit a Banksia Beach man one month after attacking his wife.

Jean Prime was on her back patio shortly before Christmas when the six foot long snake slithered across the tiles and struck the back of her leg.

Mrs Prime was transported to Caboolture Hospital where she spent 17 hours recovering.

"I had lost a lot of blood and they wanted to inspect the bite because even though their venom isn't poisonous they can still cause infections from their teeth," she said.

A snake catcher came and removed the python but to Michael Prime's dismay, the snake came back last Saturday.

"I had come outside to call the dog in and I thought I had kicked the metal ornament there but then I looked down and saw the python with his mouth wide open," Mr Prime said.

"It just grazed my leg whereas it fully sunk its teeth into Jean."

Mr and Mrs Prime called the snake catcher again who informed them it was the same slithery creature as last time.

"I couldn't believe it had found its way back to the same house," Mr Prime said.

The pair said they have lived in their Bribie Island home for six and a half years and have seen more snakes in the past few months than ever before.

Snake Catcher Moreton Bay 24/7 manager Peter Brabrook said it was a bad area for snakes.

"When I came to get the snake the lady said I think it's the same one as last time and I thought to myself, there's no way it can be but we compared photos and I said you got to be kidding me it's the same one," he said.

"I've been doing this for two years now and this is the first one I've seen come back to the same property.

"I relocated it again for them but a much further distance this time."

Mrs Prime wanted to express her gratitude to the ambulance officers and Caboolture Hospital staff for their prompt and professional treatment during the couple's time of distress.
