Shire holds stray donkeys
THREE donkeys who have been roaming the streets of Biloela were recently impounded by the Banana Shire Council.
The trio were were found straying in a public place on Patersons Rd at Goovigen where they have been spotted on a regular basis.
An auction will be held on May 20 after the community voiced concern for theirs and residents safety as they wander along a busy road.
Banana Shire Council Mayor Nev Ferrier said the wayward trio had gained a lot of attention and there was a good chance they would be sold.
"The interest in the donkeys has been extremely high and we would expect for them to be sold at the auction,” Cr Ferrier said.
"The asking price for them will be determined by market forces at the auction.
"The action to impound the animals was taken following complaints from the community,” Cr Ferrier said.
"They would regularly roam all the roadside and wander into town and the primary school.”
If the owner does not claim them the auction will be at noon on May 20 at the Council Pound Yard, State Farm Rd, Biloela. For more information, contact 49929500.
