Shannyn rules fashion stakes on the Thangool field

AS SOON as Shannyn Hopkins turned 18 she started tagging along with her brother to as many country race meetings as she could.

She quickly became enamoured with the frocks and fascinators and decided to put her style to the test in the popular fashions in the field events.

Shannyn collected her first win in 2016 at the Roma Cup race meet and has been hooked ever since.

Her most recent success came at the Thangool Cup meet at the weekend when she won the Best Dressed Lady (18-25) title, .

"I have my Mum to thank for putting my outfits together,” Shannyn said.

"She spends a lot of time looking at what colours and styles are in season.

"The season is a major factor when picking an outfit.

"The next major factor in my outfit is my headpiece, which I leave all up to my milliner Tara from Myliss Designs.

"I show her my dress and she comes up with absolutely fabulous headpieces.”

Shannyn travels far and wide to participate in fashions in the field events.

"I don't compete at all the country races, but I do try to make it to a few,” she said. "So far this year I have been as far as Goondiwindi, Brisbane, Eidsvold, Clermont, Dingo, Rockhampton and Tangool.”

Shannyn won a $150 voucher from Helloworld Biloela and a bouquet of flowers for her win in Thangool.
