Region caught between two storms

THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the Capricornia with damaging winds and large hailstones a possibility in Biloela.

Jess Gardner from the Bureau of Meteorology in Brisbane said that there is a lot of storm activity expected to pass over Biloela and the surrounding areas.

“Biloela has storms to the northwest and southeast which are forming and moving over the area anytime now,” Gardner said.

“We’re forecasting this activity to continue this afternoon and overnight with the peak likely being overnight.

“Once the system starts moving offshore we’ll see it start to ease on Saturday.”

The Bureau of Meteorology advise residents to move their car under cover or away from trees, secure loose outdoor items, seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees, avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm, beware of fallen trees and powerlines, for emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
