TONIGHT's clash at Suncorp Stadium will reveal plenty about how well the Brisbane Broncos are going in 2014.

The Broncos take on genuine premiership contenders South Sydney in a clash that will also see two of the outstanding fullbacks in the competition in action.

The Rabbitohs number one Greg Inglis is arguably the most complete fullback in the game while Broncos counterpart Ben Barba looked to have regained his mojo last week against the Knights after several quiet games.

But the match will no doubt be decided up front where both sides boast in-form forwards.

Opposing locks Sam Burgess and Matt Gillett are both at the top of their games and boast contrasting styles. Burgess boasts a power game while Gillett is tough but also possesses the silky skills of a centre.

It is in the outside backs where the Broncos boast a definite edge with co-captain Justin Hodges getting back into his stride after suffering an Achilles injury.

In other games today, expect the Storm to bounce back from recent woeful defensive displays to topple the under-achieving Warriors while the Roosters should get their season moving with a win over the Dragons.

Paul Gallen will have his Sharks fired up to beat the Panthers on Saturday while the Cowboys face a real test of their mettle at home to the Eels. North Queensland have dropped half Robert Lui and new number seven Ray Thompson must provide a foil for Johnathan Thurston to work his magic.

The Bulldogs are flying in 2014 with a dominant forward pack and two in-form halves in Trent Hodkinson and Josh Reynolds. They should be too strong for the Knights.

Expect the Sea Eagles to smack the Raiders at Brookvale Oval while the Titans will have their work cut out away against the Tigers.
