Taroom's one-man wrecking machine

ALL-ROUNDER Cameron Phillips was a one-man wrecking machine for Taroom-Wandoan against Miles in the fourth round of Chinchilla District Cricket Association fixtures.

Batting at the key number four spot, Phillips top-scored with 68 not out in Taroom's innings of 228 in 43 overs before he helped end Miles' misery (3/13), who were bowled out under lights on the turf in Chinchilla in 40 overs for 135.

After losing opener Tom Ryan early, opener-keeper Clint Adamson (26) and first drop Rob Lethbridge (55) combined in a big partnership that almost saw Taroom into triple figures, losing the second wicket at 97.

A middle-order collapse saw Taroom floundering at 6/101 as Miles all-rounder Garth Banister clamed 3/9.

Phillips had hung around while wickets fell at the other end and combined with spinner Rob Adcock (31) in a 91-run partnership, with Scott Tennyson adding 16 at the death.

Phillips hit ten fours, matching Lethbridge's tally of boundaries.

Miles appeared up for the challenge early, with Bannister (30) and fellow opener L. Cooper (33), before Graham Nowell (3/22) struck in quick succession, seeing Miles lose its top three in five runs to be 3/86.

Phillips tore through a batting list that had five ducks on the score sheet for a comfortable 93-run victory.
