New medical centre puts moura on the health map
MODERN, more comfortable and with more privacy was how Heather Mackellar, Moura Hospital's director of Nursing, described the town's recently opened medical centre.
The $1.6 million Moura Medical Centre was officially opened on Wednesday by Queensland Health director-general Mick Reid.
“It suits the purpose and isn't just an add on,” Mrs Mackellar said.
“Hopefully it will give doctors an incentive to come to Moura. It's not overcrowded and it's comfortable for everyone working there.
The centre now almost doubles the previous space.
Mrs Mackellar is hoping that with the extra room more student doctors can learn there. The construction was funded through Queensland Health capital works program.
The building has been completed since November and operational since December.
When asked what the best improvement was, Mrs Mackellar said just having the facility was the biggest boon.
Mr Chris Trevor, Federal Member for Flynn, announced in June that the Federal Government would provide $190,000 for equipment in the new centre.
Mrs Mackellar is very excited with the new Centre and believes it should improve the health care in Moura.
