New-look Eagles prepare to take flight in 2014

WEST Coast will go into tomorrow's round-one clash against the Bulldogs with up to 10 players who were not in the team that lost the final game of the 2013 season to Adelaide by 86 points.

That loss was the Eagles' ninth from 12 games at Paterson Stadium during the season, equalling the team's second-worst result at home in the club's 27-year history.

It not only hastened the demise of coach John Worsfold, but on the plus side, gave the Eagles a favourable draw that should see them climb back into the top eight in season 2014.

New coach Adam Simpson has named recruits Xavier Ellis (Hawthorn), Jamie Bennell (Melbourne) and Elliott Yeo (Brisbane), as well as first-round draft pick Dom Sheed (pictured).

Also included are Nic Naitanui, Mark LeCras, Shannon Hurn, Jack Darling, Luke Shuey and Brad Sheppard in a 25-man squad, after injuries brought a premature end to their 2013 seasons.
