MARIAH Bladen has been selected to compete in the 2017 National Indigenous Junior Netball competition in the Gold Coast later this year.

Mariah will be competing in the Australian under-13s side after succeeding in the try-outs in Sydney earlier this year.

Mariah moved to Biloela this year from New South Wales and has been playing netball for four years now.

"I love playing the game, making friends and meeting new people,” Mariah said.

She attends Biloela State High School and is in the Biloela netball team, Locomotion.

Mariah came into her Aunty Deanne's care after her mother was injured in a car accident with severe brain injuries.

Deanne could not be more proud of her niece.

"She puts her whole effort into her sports, she enjoys it, she is happy and that is where she is free,” Deanne said. "She has gone from just knowing the basics to rep, playing for Queensland and now playing for Australia.”

Playing in rep teams in NSW and Queensland, Mariah has been able to make friends all over.

"She has friends in Rockhampton and Gracemere she met in Sydney and she wouldn't have been able to meet them without it,” Deanne said.

Deanne has three children in her care and she is passionate about giving them a positive start in life.

"Sports give them a purpose in life, an opportunity to go further,” she said. "Get them into sports and keep them out of courts is my motto.”

To pay for Mariah's accommodation, flights and players fee, Deanne will need to raise $2000 dollars.

Deanne has set up a GoFundMe page for friends and family far away to donate money.

"If I can pay it off like I am and get a little bit of help to make sure she is there, that is my aim,” Deanne said.

"I don't want her to miss out.”
