24-year-old panel beater set up to cook meth at CQ home

BRENDAN Robert Rybarczyk was well on his way to concocting a few drug recipes.

The 24-year-old had 39 items, including a cooker, reaction vessel, funnels and hoses, which are known to be used in production of methamphetamine.

Rybarczyk, a panel beater, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday to four charges including possessing anything used in connection with a crime.

The court heard that on April 27 at 4.07pm, police had a search warrant for a Kawana property which they declared a crime scene after discovering the drug lab.

Rybarczyk wasn't home at the time of the search.

All the items seized are known to be used at different stages in the methamphetamine production.

Rybarczyk's defence lawyer told the court his client's drug problem spiralled out of control since his first use of the drug.

The court heard he used drugs daily.

Magistrate Cameron Press told Rybarczyk that he could not afford to get involved in drugs again.

"With your record you will go to jail (next time)," Mr Press said.

Rybarczyk was sentenced to five months in prison, with the sentence suspended as of yesterday.
