Man in hospital with serious head injury after punch

A ROCKVILLE man is in hospital with a serious head injury after being approached by a group of unknown men near a Wilsonton hotel on Friday night.

Toowoomba detectives investigating the suspected serious assault say the man was near the intersection of Mottram Court and Richmond Drive around 11.30pm when he was approached by the group of unknown men.

They believe the man was then punched in the head, causing him to fall over and strike his head on the footpath.

The 48-year-old lost consciousness for a period of time before being transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with a serious head injury.

Police are appealing for anyone may have witnessed the incident, has any information which could assist police with their investigation, including private CCTV or dash cam vision, to contact police.
