Man accused of trying to kill woman with brick extradited

A MAN accused of trying to kill a Gatton woman with a brick is this morning due to face a Toowoomba court.

Andrew William Swan was arrested in Moree on Thursday last week and charged with attempted murder in relation to a New Year's Day attack in Gatton on the 64-year-old victim.

Police also charged him with entering a premises with intent over a break-in at the Gatton View Hotel on New Year's Eve.

He appeared in Inverell Local Court yesterday, where Magistrate Michael Holmes granted an extradition warrant for the 21-year-old to be brought to Queensland.

A spokeswoman at the court said Swan was also fined and placed on a good behaviour bond for a common assault matter arising from an incident in New South Wales.

Swan is due to appear in custody in Toowoomba Magistrates Court this morning.
