Man attacked with a business sign in CBD

A MAN was injured after a business sign was thrown at him in an unprovoked attack in the Mackay CBD overnight.

Police said a sushi bar sign was been picked up by an unknown man and thrown at a pedestrian at 8:45pm on Thursday, October 12, on Milton St.

Police allege an intoxicated man, believed to be in his 20s, indigenous in appearance and wearing a red shirt, threw the sign at the victim after shouting "What are you looking at?”.

He then fled the scene.

Paramedics assessed the man who was later taken to Mackay Base Hospital with injuries to his torso.

Mackay police hope to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information.
