Lowood's Kate voted out of Idol

LOWOOD country rocker Kate Cook lost her battle to be crowned the 2009 Australian Idol winner last night after being voted out of the Channel 10 singing competition.

Kate Cook joined James Johnston and Stan Walker in the bottom three on Sunday night.

She finished sixth overall.

Ms Cook's farewell video montage included footage of her return home to Lowood last week, which also featured her family, her fans from the Lowood primary school and her impromptu gig singing on the back of a flat-bed truck with Troy Cassar-Daley.

Explaining how her life had been “turned upside down” since her days “slipping on her gumboots” and going to work in the abattoir, Ms Cook said she had learned so much about the music industry during her time on the show - more than she thought she would.

“I've set myself goals and dreams and I've achieved them,” she said, adding it was now time to “follow my country music heart and sing me guts out”.

The self-confessed “down-to- earth-country-bumpkin” told the Idol audience she was thrilled with how far she had come and finished on a high saying; “Australian country music, look out! Here comes Kate Cook!”.
