Legion Festival officially cancels January launch

After months of silence and subsequent rumours, Legion Music Fest have official cancelled the January launch.

The announcement came late this afternoon on facebook.

"The organizers wish to thank all Aussie metal fans for their continued support of the Legion project over the last 10 months.

Due to a number of business considerations, we have made the decision to not proceed with the proposed launch of Legion Music Fest in January 2017."

The festival showed signs of a changeup when Devildriver pulled out of the lineup.

Although, it did continue to have a very strong list of great Australian bands.

The festival was billed to be a replacement for Soundwave which also had to close its doors to a number of business issues.

After a successful crowdfunding campaign Legion Festival seemed to have strong support with Devil You Know tipped as one of the major bands to be taking part.

Drummer John Sankey left Devil You Know in order to concentrate fully on running the festival.

This summer though will see the debut of the Thrash, Blast and Grind Fest, kicking off around Australia and New Zealand through February 2017.

The first announcement boasts Australia's own bastard sons of grind King Parrot as the headliners, and alongside them are US heavyweight death/thrash giants Revocation.

King Parrot frontman Matt Young said, "We've wanted to put on a great value tour with awesome local and international bands for sometime now. Thrash, Blast and Grind Fest has given us this opportunity.
