Keely eyes win in Port Taranaki

SUNSHINE Coast young gun Keely Andrew is set to compete in the quarter-finals of the Port Taranaki Pro today after progressing through round six of the 6-Star event yesterday.

Andrew, the current number 15 on the ASP Qualification Series rankings, will be keen to improve on her already impressive position when she tackles California's Sage Erickson.

"This is my best result so far this year," she said.

She scored 13.90 to beat France's Alize Arnaud (11.53) and Hawaii's Nage Melamud (9.76) yesterday.

Fellow Sunshine Coast surfer and the event's top seed Dimity Stoyle was knocked out in round five.

Meanwhile, Coolum Beach's Jack Duggan was eliminated by compatriot Jackson Giles in the quarter-finals of the 2-Star Pro Junior men's division.
