Kate Cook wows Idol again

KATE Cook showed why she was a judge favourite on Australian Idol this year after a barnstorming rendition of the Stealers Wheel classic Stuck In The Middle With You on Sunday night.

Sporting her trademark Akubra, the Lowood sensation cranked the volume up and dazzled the crowd with another strong vocal performance in the series' first top 12 episode.

Judge “Dicko” gave her performance the thumbs up, and said it was party time whenever she took the stage.

Unfortunately for Bellbird Park student Lucie Johnson the news was not so good after she failed to make the top 12 on the public vote.

Kate was not available to talk after Sunday night's episode, but sister Paula Stone said the Harley-riding former meatworker was happy with her performance.

“She is pretty happy with how everything is going, she doesn't think about elimination too much,” Mrs Stone said.

“She doesn't want to stress about it because she can't control - she'll just wait to see what happens.

“We've all put our votes in, and hopefully she has enough fans all over Australia who have voted as well.”

Mrs Stone said she thought the performance was one of Kate's best to date.

“I think her genuineness comes across when she's on stage,” she said.

“It's like what Dicko said - Kate loves people and is very charismatic.

“I think that's why she appeals to so many people.”
