UPDATE 11.50AM: A man was taken into custody on the cnr of Gordon and Wellington Street in Mackay around 11am this morning.

The juvenile had run from police and was taken to the watch house but has not been charged.

A police spokeswoman said no further information was available and the juvenile would be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

It is understood police were unable to locate the second male involved in the incident.

BREAKING 11.15AM: POLICE have just made a dramatic arrest in the city following a chase through Mackay CBD.

Reports indicate one juvenile male has been taken into custody on the corner of Gregory and Wellington St following the chase and Queensland Ambulance crews are on the way.

A second male offender involved in the incident is still on the run and was last seen heading towards the vicinity of the Mackay Regional Council offices.

Back-up police crews have been called in to patrol for the male offender.

The full details of the arrest are at this stage unclear however it is understood it relates to a stealing matter.
