Finals ahead for Valleys
BILOELA football can smell finals' success as the regular season winds down.
With just this weekend's catch-up round to go in the Gladstone Football competition, Valleys senior squads are well poised with the ladies and men's first division teams both third on the ladder.
Biloela Valleys FC vice-president Joshua Harlick summed up a solid season for the club.
"All three teams have stringed good wins together in the start and middle of the season,” Harlick said.
"Second division lucked out with nine teams in the comp so we missed out on the finals run.”
With positions likely remaining where they are after this weekend, Valleys will host home finals in Biloela.
"Currently as it stands with the first division men being third, Valleys will host all 3v4 games for both the first and second divisions of ladies and men across the competition,” Harlick said.
"After this weekend we'll know for certain where and when the finals will be held and it will likely be Sunday, August 25 from 9am.
"The 3v4 is a knock-out and must win, facing the loser of the 1v2 game in Gladstone.”
Harlick and the Valleys rate their chances in the finals campaign, particularly their first division men's team.
"The first division men's team look really good and have been putting in the extra hard yards, as well as the ladies side, ” Harlick said.
"We beat Clinton 2-0 a few weeks ago and they're a good team.
"By any means the lads have a pretty good chance of beating BITS or Clinton if we meet them in a final.
"I don't see why they can't make it.”
