Ex-AFL player jailed over violent attacks on girlfriend

JILL Scott, the ex-girlfriend of former AFL star Justin Murphy, has described the trauma she lives with after suffering a series of "evil" attacks by Murphy.

Murphy, who said he had issues with the drug ice and GHB, pleaded guilty to 28 charges in the Heidelberg

Magistrate's Court on Thursday landing him a six month stint in jail.

The court heard Murphy engaged in a "campaign of terror" against Ms Scott which included stalking, robbery and threats to kill her.

Although his lawyer argued he had tried to fix his problem with ice by completing a three-month rehabilitation program Magistrate John O'Callaghan said the former player's behaviour toward Ms Scott was 'appalling and unacceptable'.

Ms Scott was maimed in an attack in November last year, losing a middle finger after Murphy burnt it off with a blow torch in a frenzied rage.

"I'll have flashes for life, dreams for life," Ms Scott told Seven News.

"I wake up screaming.

"Evil. That's pretty much the word for it."

She detailed how Murphy would jump the fence at night to steal her phone. "It's pretty terrifying stuff.

"I cannot accept violence against women. I cannot accept this campaign of terror you put this lady through," Magistrate John O'Callaghan told Murphy on Thursday.

The former footy star has been sentenced to six months in jail.
