Selwood ditched, may head to Geelong

WEST Coast vice-captain Scott Selwood may have played his last game for the club.

The 25-year-old, left out of the side that earned a place in Saturday's grand final against Hawthorn by beating North Melbourne last weekend, has been linked with a move to Geelong next season where he would line up alongside his brother Joel.

He is set to be a spectator again this weekend unless a teammate is injured at training. Eagles captain Shannon Hurn said it would be unfortunate if Selwood, who will become a restricted free agent at the end of the season, didn't play in the grand final.

"He hasn't changed the way he's gone about his footy," Hurn said. "He's always worked hard. He's always very diligent around the club, helping other players.

"He's had a couple of setbacks unfortunately with his ankle this year and last year, but he's grown as a person, and added a lot of value to the club.

"Unfortunately with the situation, being a grand final, sometimes players miss out.

"If that's the case, it's very unfortunate. But it's all about the squad."

West Coast is expected to field an unchanged line-up from the side that beat the Kangaroos by 25 points, with midfielder Chris Masten in no doubt despite being subbed out early in the last quarter last Saturday night in what was his first game back from a hamstring injury. All 22 players from the prelim final had a light training run yesterday in front of more than 10,000 fans on a public holiday in Perth.
