Driver airlifted to hospital

UPDATE: The male driver in his 40s' entered a service station in Banana about 11.30pm said a Queensland police spokesman, before driving west down the Dawson Highway and veering off the road on a right hand bend and crashing into a tree.

He was located shortly after by a passing motorist before paramedics and a rescue helicopter attended the scene.

Police are investigating whether alcohol was a contributing factor.

EARLIER: A MALE in his 40s' has been flown to Rockhampton Hospital earlier this morning, after a single-vehicle crash near Banana.

Paramedics and the Rescue Helicopter were called to the scene at 12.42am on the Dawson Highway.

The man was treated for ankle injuries and was in a stable condition before being flown to Rockhampton Hospital.
