PRINCESS Kate and Prince William met a North Burnett royal during their visit last month.
Monto's showgirl queen Donna Baker met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Brisbane's Convention and Exhibition Centre, along with 200 other outstanding community members and terminally ill children.
"I was excited when I heard they were coming to Australia and I could hardly believe it when I was given an invitation to meet them," Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl's current Miss Showgirl said.
The 24-year-old introduced herself to the couple, but said "there were much more important people in the crowd, like the sick children, that would benefit more from their time".
Despite the fleeting conversation, Donna was impressed with how down-to-earth and approachable the English royalty appeared to be.
"They just seemed like normal people; Kate was so natural and happy, and William looked like a really lovely guy," she said.
"They were easy to spot because they are so tall.
"They were at least a head taller than everyone else in the room, so the crowd could pick them out very easily."
The local showgirl said, although it was a "very special day", she also enjoyed returning to the Monto Show last weekend.
"Nothing makes me more proud than seeing the community come together for the annual show."
