CQ Zone 8 selection for Callide Valley Darts members

DARTS: The Callide Valley District Darts Association gained representative honours last weekend at the Zone 8 Seniors trials in Gladstone.

CVDDA secretary Narelle de Git said both men's and ladies' teams did well in Gladstone, with Simon de Git and Margaret Smallwood gaining Central Queensland Zone 8 selection.

"Simon and Margaret both came in sixth place in the groups and will go away to represent CQ Zone 8 in Inala, the first weekend in May,” she said.

"From there, if they play well enough, they can try to get selection for the Queensland team.”

There was 14 ladies and 20 men who all played to get selected for the Central Queensland Zone 8 team.

Smallwood already has previously represented Queensland in 2015 and 2017 and will help bring a wealth of experience to the upcoming competition.

Despite a two year lay off, she has lost little finesse with her darts skill and is keen to give her selection potential a good showing.

"It will be a hard competition to play in for them. There will be 10 zones in contention for Queensland selection with six men and six women in both,” Narelle said.

This is the second time Simon de Git has represented CQ Zone 8 and he will be out to make a point to opposition players and selectors.

Narelle de Git has been selected as captain (manager) for the CQ Zone 8 as well.
