CQ combined unions recently celebrated Labour Day

THE Central Queensland combined unions celebrated Labour Day last Sunday with a Family Fun Day at the Biloela Civic Centre.

Over 90 local union members and their families were able to come together to celebrate the achievements of unions.

Regional organiser Chris McJannett said it was important to recognise the efforts of union colleagues in securing working conditions.

"This was the first Labour Day celebration in Biloela in recent memory and was so popular we have locked in the date for the next year,” Chris said.

"Nothing has ever been given, we have had to stand up and fight for every wage increase, every key condition which is vital to ensuring our way of life.”

The Family Fun Day included face painting and games for kids and a tug-of-war.
