HEPATITIS B and C affect over half a million Australians, and the viruses are the most common cause of liver cancer, the fastest-growing cause of cancer deaths in Australia.
World Hepatitis Day, 28 July, aims to raise awareness of viral hepatitis. This year's World Hepatitis Day theme for Queensland is "Get tested. What are you waiting for?"
Hepatitis Queensland is offering small grants to support local community organisations in running hepatitis awareness activities.
Community organisations can apply for small grants of up to $500 to run awareness events.
Activities could include lunches, cooking workshops, community education and activity days, or even creative events like art workshops or liver health quiz challenges.
Applications are open until 23 May 2014. Organisations can contact Jess at Hepatitis Queensland on (07) 3846 0020 or email@example.com for how to apply.
Details of local events will be released before World Hepatitis Day at loveyourliver.com.au
