Club is gearing up for anniversary

PLANNING is underway with the Callide Valley Tennis Association gearing up to celebrate its 90th anniversary next year.

Celebrations will be held on March 30 with an open invitation to all past and present players to attend a dinner at the RSL.

The dinner will be followed by a tennis day at the courts on March 31.

The association is currently compiling a history book which will be printed early next year.

Those involved in the production are keen to receive any photos depicting players, courts or buildings from the association's past, along with memorabilia, tournament winner cards (or engraved trophies), old score sheets or team lists.

All aspects of tennis will be covered in the book, including Tuesday Ladies and Junior tennis.

The association would also like to include a section of tennis memories from present or past players and a section of amusing incidents that are related to tennis, either on or off the court.

They would also like extra information in the following areas: tennis between 1941-1946, ladies social tennis in Biloela 60s-mid 70s, names of Monday and Tuesday ladies night fixtures players (late 70s-90s).

If anyone has a story to share, any memorabilia, or would like to sponsor the book, please contact Sharon Swift on 0407024032 or email swifty2@hotmail. com or phone Clarice White on 49951128.
