CENTRAL QUEENSLAND RUGBY UNION LOOKS TO NEW ERA
RUGBY UNION: The 2019 rugby union season will kick off with a Super Saturday format to include juniors, women's and men's teams - all playing on the same day at the same venue.
This will make for a massive day of rugby and make it easier on families, players and supporters.
Former Biloela Rugby Union Club president Marcus Costar said bringing together the elements of rugby would help to make it stronger.
"By centralising rugby union on the Saturday, it will make it a lot easier for players, coaches and managers,” Costar said.
"The travel that will be cut down will make it easier for everyone.
"There will be an equal amount of home games.”
This means an equal number of home and away games for clubs.
"This gives clubs support to help raise money through canteens and an equal opportunity for women's and juniors competitions,” he said.
"We started a women's competition last year and got a fair bit of interest about it.
"The success of the women's rugby union team (Wallaroos) has had a massive flow-on affect in attracting female players,” Costar said
