FOR the first time in 17 years a Callide Valley Showgirl has won the Central Queensland Miss Showgirl regional final.
Over the weekend Lisa Keys won the title at the regional finals held in Yeppoon, something that hasn't been done since Lisa McGuigan (Wippell) took part in the finals over a decade ago.
Lisa competed against strong competition with girls representing Mackay, Pioneer Valley, Gin Gin, Yeppoon and Rockhampton show societies to win the event.
Lisa will now travel to the Brisbane Exhibition in August to represent Central Queensland.
She will compete against ten other regional winners for the prestigious title of Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl.
Over the five days the entrants will attend formal dinners, tour the Queensland Country Life office, have afternoon tea at Government House and be guests at the Natural Fibres fashion parade, deportment and grooming demonstration and the judging.
Lisa is a firm believer in the importance of Ag Shows.
She said agricultural shows are an asset to every community and she hopes to promote and broaden their appeal to make them sustainable for many years to come.
Lisa would like to create a networking group to share ideas on how to boost numbers and encourage the younger generation to become actively involved in agricultural shows by volunteering.
Lisa will be aiming to create history by being the first Callide Valley Miss Showgirl to win the prestigious Queensland Miss Showgirl Award.
