Bridie's cart in true community spirit
BRIDIE Braham is bringing back old fashioned country kindness and generosity to the townspeople of Biloela through her 'Community Cart'.
"I was watching Gardening Australia and a small country town just like ours was doing one and I thought Biloela needed more of a community feel, more warmth and I thought maybe the cart would help with that,” Bridie said.
She put the idea to community members on the local Facebook Biloela Community Notice and Discussion Board page and was met with an overwhelming positive response.
Bridie went through all the right channels approaching the local council to bring her idea to fruition.
In the true spirit of what the cart will represent in the community, Bridie was met with a helping hand from Grassroots Living Room owner, Jillian Mouzouris.
The cart is a welcomed addition to Jillian's growing business, which branched out into organic coffee and delicious food earlier this year as well as offering unique gifts, sustainable products and natural therapies.
The cart will be parked outside Grassroots for everyone's benefit.
"Jillian has gone above and beyond in helping me to get the cart happening and even taking out an extra permit so I could use their space,” Bridie said.
The products available will depend on what people have and will be based on a barter and honesty system.
"The aim is to have fresh produce from private vegetable gardens and eggs, homemade jams and chutneys, fresh herbs and even pretty flowers,” she said.
"The main idea of the cart is to create warmth in the community, one way to do that is to share.”
