Bilo Rugby's anniversary romp
INSPIRED by a host of club legends celebrating Biloela Rugby Union's 30th anniversary, the modern day players responded with a 26-17 victory over Cap Coast at the Biloela Showgrounds on Saturday.
The celebration began at 11.30am with junior boys' and girls' games.
At 1.30 golden oldies The Plucked Cockies took to the field in a very willing and entertaining game as the oldies turned back the clock.
In the main game of the day Biloela started strongly, riding on the emotion of the large crowd and running through a guard of honour of past Biloela legends.
This enthusiasm resulted in the opening try to Jared Dunlop in the corner after two minutes.
The conversion was unsuccessful and provided Biloela with a 5-0 lead.
Cap Coast narrowed this lead with a penalty to give the home side a narrow 5-3 lead after 10 minutes.
Biloela extended this lead after 20 minutes when Joe O'Reagain swooped on a Cap Coast error in Biloela's 22.
O'Reagain showed great determination to outrun the defence and race the 80 metres to the try line.
The try was converted by Justin Pokarier and extended Biloela's lead to 12-3.
Eventually this pressure resulted in an excellent try to Josh Wragge, who raced 40 metres to score under the post.
The try was converted by Pokarier and provided Biloela with a 19-3 lead at half time.
After the break Cap Coast found the line in the opening five minutes of the second half.
This try was converted and narrowed the lead to 19-10.
Biloela responded immediately to the challenge with a Pokarier kick finding open space and flying winger Laurie London picking up the bouncing ball to run the last 20 metres to score under the post.
Pokarier added the extras to give Biloela a 26-10 lead.
Cap Coast ensured an interesting final 20 minutes when they added another converted try to again narrow the lead to 26-17.
This remained the final score.Score board Biloela 26 (J. Dunlop, J. O'Reagain, J. Wragge, L.London tries; J. Pokarier 3 conversions)d Cap Coast 17.
