Biloela Shoppingworld expansion update

THE McConaghy Group remains positive about the future of Biloela and the region as it advances plans for Biloela Shoppingworld redevelopment.

The company is in negotiations with major traders about possible tenancies at an expanded centre considering the final format.

To date, The McConaghy Group has invested several million dollars in road and services infrastructure, and a new tourist information centre, RV carpark and picnic area which has enabled the land for the expanded shopping centre to be purchased.

Despite mixed retail conditions nationally, there is optimism that an improved offer would be well supported locally.

"Clearly, there is significant retail spend flowing out of the region to Rockhampton and Gladstone,” a McConaghy Group spokesman said.

"We believe Biloela would benefit greatly if there are better options for those dollars to be spent locally.

"A new and improved Biloela Shoppingworld will benefit the whole community and bring in business from the surrounding areas.”

Plans include a discount department store, a bigger Woolworths supermarket, a discount petrol outlet, enhanced food court, a fast food restaurant, additional speciality stores and basement car parking.
