Biloela Rugby League To Host Intrust Super game in June
RUGBY LEAGUE: Biloela rugby league fans will be filled with excitement after the recent announcement of an Intrust Super Cup heading their way.
The Central Queensland Capras are scheduled to take on Souths Logan Magpies on June 15 at the Rainbow St sporting fields.
Biloela Panthers Rugby League Football Club secretary Chloe Stevens said it would be a big day of league for the club and rugby fans.
"It is going to be awesome to have an Intrust Super game here. There was one played here several years ago and the community really got behind it,” Stevens said.
"Each year some games are offered to a club in the Rockhampton district and we were lucky enough to get one.”
There will be five games played on the day for league fans to enjoy, with the schedule still to be finalised.
The Rockhampton local senior rugby league competition will start with the women's game between Yeppoon and Woorabinda from 1pm.
The under-20s play at 2.30pm between Biloela Panthers and Yeppoon, then the Biloela Reggies go up against Yeppoon Reggies at 4pm.
The draw card game of the day between the Capras and Magpies will be played at 5pm, followed by Biloela A-grade against Yeppoon at 7pm.
While it's only early day of planning, Stevens said the club was looking forward to the big day of league action.
"We are working on prices and costs for entry for the day and the juniors are looking forward to the Intrust game because it's a chance to watch some elite players,” she said.
"A lot of players come from the country to make up these high-level teams and Peter Rogers from Biloela might get selected for the Capras squad.
"There will be music and some entertainment after the games and we want to make it a family fun day for everyone to enjoy.”
Stevens is also working hard at gaining interest from businesses keen to sponsor the event.
