Biloela pool upgrade creates a splash
SWIMMERS can now enjoy more upgrades at the recently opened Biloela Aquatic Centre.
Queensland Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick was in Biloela for a local business and investment.
He opened the upgraded 25m pool with Labor Candidate for Flynn, Zac Beers.
The pool upgrade cost $500,000 with Banana Shire Council contributing $250,000 and the state government matching the difference.
The Banana Shire Council was pleased to advise the project was finished in February, as many residents had been enjoying aspects of the upgrades since September 2018.
Council would like to encourage allied health professionals in the region to consider using the heated 25m pool for rehabilitation and other activities, especially for mobility impaired residents who may not have had the opportunity to use the pool in the past.
Banana Shire Mayor Nev Ferrier encouraged residents to use the facility.
"This upgrade has been a great improvement to the facility for all patrons. It has been designed to allow access to the pool for people who have difficulty using stairs or ladders and enable all members of our community equitable access to utilise the facility,” Cr Ferrier said.
