Biloela leaves no room for a Frenchville victory

LAST weekend Biloela hosted two games of rugby while the ladies had the weekend off.

A-grade Biloela came up against one of the front runners in Frenchville which was sure to be an explosive game after Biloela fell well short earlier in the season to Frenchville in Rocky.

Biloela drew first blood with a penalty conversion from close courters.

From there Biloela seemed to have the ascendency and continued an onslaught of wide running which allowed Biloela to score to the right of the upright, minutes later Biloela crossed the line again through some strong outside back running.

Frenchville weren't to be denied as they continued throwing everything at Biloela when the Frenchville forwards dominated possession close to the line scoring there first.

Biloela led into the half-time break as Frenchville's late comers arrived for the second half.

Frenchville spread the ball, finding holes at will but fell short with strong cover defence.

Biloela capitalised on the long passing when one went directly into a Biloela defender who ran half the field to cross the line.

Biloela lifted again and seemed to have the run of play scoring a further two tries.

Frenchville's "never say die” attitude had them on the front foot with 15 minutes to play as Biloela started to loose their head of steam.

Frenchville crossed for two quick tries in 10 minutes as Biloela defended their line for the remaining five minutes.

Final score was Biloela 34 to Frenchville 15.

This is Biloela's third win of the season in A-grade.

They will now have the week off to recover with the bye.

The Cockatiels will play this weekend in Rocky.

The club also has several players selected in the East v West game in Rockhampton.

Gavin Ham, Mitch Terek, Caleb Russell and Josh Ambrose were selected in the seniors and Jason Hibble and Corey Kurtz in the under-19s.

Reserve grade Mt Morgan played against a very determined Frenchville outfit. Mt Morgan took the field with 13 players which took its toll. Final score Frenchville 26 Mt Morgan 7.
