Motorbike rider killed after swerving to miss kangaroo

UPDATE 6AM: A MAN has died following a two vehicle collision about 10km north of Marlborough on Tuesday night.

Initial investigations indicate at about 6.10pm a 50-year-old man was riding a motorcycle North on the Bruce Highway. 

The motorbike swerved to avoid hitting a Kangaroo and then collided with a vehicle travelling South.

The man died at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were transported to Rockhampton Hospital for observation.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

UPDATE, 8PM: Police are diverting traffic at the scene of a fatal motorbike accident on the Bruce Hwy, 130km north of Rockhampton.

All emergency services are at the crash site 12km north of Marlborough where a motorbike rider died about 6.10pm.

Diversions are expected to be in place for several hours as debris is cleared and forensic teams investigate.

Police were not able to advise of any injuries to the couple in the car which collided with the motorbike rider.

BREAKING, 6.30pm: A motorbike rider is dead after a crash with a car on the Bruce Hwy, 130km north of Rockhampton.

The accident happened about 6.10pm, 12km north of Marlborough.

Initial reports from the scene said an elderly couple in the car were suffering from shock.

There are no entrapments.
