Banana Shire crowned CQ champs
LAST weekend in Biloela at the local dart hall on Callide St, Biloela dart players competed in the Tri-City Championships against teams from Rockhampton and Gladstone.
Although the Biloela team came second in the competition behind Rockhampton, they were declared the 2019 champions of the tournament, which was held progressively over six competitions throughout the year.
The Tri-City Championships are a yearly challenge held between the three towns, with this being the first time Biloela has won the overall championship in close to 10 years.
Local player Simon de Git won five individual men’s awards for which all players are eligible throughout the year, winning the most tons with 222, the most finishes with 123, the most singles with 30, the highest score of 177 and the most 180s with eight.
Baralaba dart player Brenda McNeill won the ladies’ highest score with 174 and the highest finish with 106.
The Callide Valley District Darts Association said they were very proud of the players and hoped for more success next year.
The players that competed in the Tri-City Championships included Narelle de Git, Racheal Jones, Simon de Git, Brenda McNeill, Pete Dwyer, Kelly Ruth and Dion McNeill and Wayne Henney.
Other players who have represented the club throughout the year are Josh Smallwood, Wayne Watson, Ciaran Stehbens, Margie Smallwood, Lynda Dwyer, Eliza Suhan and Annie Anderson.
