Mark Latham degenerates into tirade of abuse on stage

FORMER Labor leader Mark Latham has found himself in hot water again after launching into a tirade of abuse at the Melbourne Writers Festival at the weekend.

Mr Latham turned on event host and ABC presenter Jonathon Green after he was asked during a question and answer session to confirm whether he was behind a @RealMarkLatham Twitter account used to attack prominent Australians.

Audience members booed, jeered and some even stormed out of the session.

Actor Max Gillies, who was in the audience, told Mr Latham he did not come to listen to an afternoon of abuse.

Mr Latham replied: "Piss off, leave, go, go. It is a democracy, get your lard ass off the seat and go."
