MACKAY'S young singer Charlotte Boumford is hoping that Hollywood will be bopping to her tunes when her single, Whenever You Want Me, hits American airwaves late next month.
The 16-year-old Whitsunday Anglican School student was recently contacted by the record industry in Hollywood, through her MySpace site, asking if they could use her single on a compilation album called Acoustika volume 18.
The album will go out in most of the major cities in America, including New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles,
It will also go through 25 College radio stations as well as the coffee houses in Hollywood, including those on Sunset Boulevard.
Sitting on the front veranda of her family's Eimeo home, with the afternoon sun shinning on her golden hair, the Year 12 beauty admits she hasn't had much time to let it all sink in just yet, with her focus being the very important QCS examination.
“I am excited that people in America will have the opportunity to hear my music,” she said.
“It's not every day you have Hollywood ringing you up after seeing your MySpace site.
“To be honest it really hasn't sunk in yet, I have been very busy with my school work so I think it will hit me during the school holidays.
“It's a starting point and if it's meant to be then it's meant to be.”
Taking her stardom in her stride, Charlotte doesn't take all the credit as she claims she wouldn't be where she is today without her drummer Tom Lagan and her guitarist John Boumford.
“Tom is great, he has such a great personality and we have worked really well together,” she said.
Ms Boumford said the album would be available for purchase through one of America's largest record stores, Ameoba Record Store or through her MySpace site via a PayPal system in October.
Charlotte's MySpace site that started it all is www.myspace.com/charlotteemilymusic.
