Farmer sick of CSG workers camp

A WANDOAN grazier fighting the construction of a coal seam gas (CSG) workers’ camp next door to his property has warned its "open slather".

SHUT IT DOWN: Wandoan farmer Neville Stiller says he is sick of the noise from the construction of a a coal seam gas pipeline workers camp next door

A WANDOAN grazier fighting the construction of a coal seam gas (CSG) workers’ camp next door to his property has warned its "open slather" in his battle to save his family farm and 100 years of history.

Wandoan farmer Neville Stiller said he has had enough of CSG company QCG, who have started building a 600 man workers camp on the property next door to his.

Mr Stiller said to start with he had no consultation in the early stages before a neighbour told QCG to speak with him.

His biggest concern is that the camp is too close to his place, and QCG are contravening its own code of conduct as it is 170 metres away from his place, not the minimum 200 metres stated in QCG’s own code of conduct.

"When I went to school I was taught that 172 is less than 200," Mr Stiller said.

"Maybe this has changed?

"I have never given my consent to the campsite being closer than 200 metres to my residence."

Mr Stiller said the possible site for the camp shifted around several times.

"Then one day machinery turned up to start construction."

"The noise is getting bad."

Mt Stiller claimed no dust or noise monitoring had been carried out on his property.

He lives on a section cut off from the family farm, which has been in his family for a century.

Mr Stiller said he has raised his concerns with QCG

"There aren’t too many people in QCG that don’t know the name Neville Stiller.

"They know my concerns but are still going ahead - its open slather to me."

Central Telegraph has previously reported issues Thangool residents have been having with a QCG camp site, as well as the impact of trucks carrying pipes down Tollemaches Road.

A QCG spokesperson said pipeline project director Norman Ingram was working on Mr Stiller’s issues.
