SEVERAL roads in the Taroom area have been closed due to flooding, caused by recent heavy rains which have caused the Dawson River to rise to a flood level of 6 metres.
Taroom Police Sergeant Bill Brennan said the Taroom-Roma Road is cut, as is the Injune road and Fitzroy Development Road, which is cut at Robinson Creek.
Sergeant Brennan had to attend two accidents last week caused by drivers not driving to wet conditions.
In one incident, a car started to float away, and the driver was rescued by police and SES.
He said it was a timely reminder for drivers to drive to conditions.
He said drivers should not ignore road closure signs and should check the depth of any flooded roads before crossing.
The Roma Road is expected to be closed for the longest and may not open until next week, as bridge inspections have to be completed.
The Injune and Fitzroy Development Roads are expected to be closed for at least another few days.
Taroom has had 169mms since the start of the month while nearby Injune had had 126mms, most in the first two days of February.
