TWENTY-five-year-old Brendan Beahan was resisting a normal birthday celebration this year.
Instead he decided to transform his friends into superheroes.
"Originally I wasn't going to have a party," Brendan said.
"But the missus was pushing me to do something.
"Then she said why not have it as a fundraiser for something."
With that Brendan was inspired, deciding to hold an Everyday Hero fundraiser where people are invited to build their own personal fundraising page for a charity of their choice.
Brendan invited his friends and family to put their money together and raise some much needed cash for a good cause while also celebrating his birthday.
The birthday bash was a costume party with the theme "Be Someone's Hero".
Superheroes that attended the event ranged from Superman, Ninja Turtles, Hulk, Mrs Incredible, Superwomen, Batman and Buzz Lightyear.
Guests were asked to make a donation with funds going to the charity Variety.
Brendan also had $2750 of prizes donated from local businesses. The couple is now hoping to make the event an annual fundraiser.
"We only started planning a couple of months before the party this year," Brendan said.
"So we are hoping to get a bit more planning behind us next year."
The event is sure to be successful with the couple already proving they are dedicated to the cause with Brendan dying his hair for the cause.
"Because you can't have a red-haired Superman," he laughed.
This real life hero plans to work towards giving instead of receiving to fulfil his birthday wish for years to come.
