Vocal debut wins hearts and quest
KEEP an eye out for these Biloela girls in the music charts.
Sisters Gabby and Hayley Streeter took out first place in the Gladstone Harbour Festival Senior Talent Quest last week.
The girls, 16 and 18, performed Break My Stride - a song they wrote a month before performing it.
This was the first time the girls had performed publicly together and Gabby's first time singing in public.
"We always sung around the house and mum kept on saying to us we should do something like this," Gabby said.
"Then one day we were mucking around and wrote a song together and Hayley asked about performing it at the Harbour Festival."
The girls' mum, Jenny, told the Central Telegraph that the judges recommended the girls record their song straight away.
The musical enthusiasts play a number of instruments including saxophone, flute and taught themselves how to play guitar.
Gabby said the girls had a relaxed approach to their performing agenda.
"We don't have any real plans at the moment (to perform again)," she said.
"If it happens it happens."
But for now the sisters have another very special task ahead of them.
"We are writing one song for our cousin's wedding, for her to walk down the aisle to."
Hayley will also be performing at Bilo's Big Arvo Out on April 21 as part of youth week celebrations.
